STANDARD 3: Planning and Implementation

Physical education teacher candidates plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with local, state and national standards to address the diverse needs of all students.

Lesson plans are key to teaching/coaching for many reasons. They keep you prepared and organized, and overall allow you to plan out what you are going to teach and how you are going to teach it. Also in the event of an accident, they are great to have for liability reasons to show on paper what was being done as a class and how you met educational standards as well as addressed the safety concerns.

However, I believe proper planning is only half of the battle. No matter how prepared you are there is always the possibility of the lesson not going as planned, that's where implementation comes in. Being able to make last minute adjustments and think on your feet is critical as an educator/coach. I believe that I am well planned and organized in my approach to teaching and am also able to think on my feet and make changes to my lesson plans as needed.
